President William Ruto has accused retired President Uhuru Kenyatta of supporting opposition politicians as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a public rally in Eldoret, Ruto alleged that Uhuru was working behind the scenes to strengthen his political rivals and help them mount a challenge against his administration at the ballot.

The President further claimed that some of his opponents were receiving financial and political backing from individuals seeking to influence the outcome of the 2027 election. He singled out the former President as one of the figures he alleged was involved in efforts to strengthen the opposition.

Ruto also dismissed his political opponents as lacking a clear vision for the country, urging voters to focus on what he described as his administration's development agenda.

The President expressed confidence in his ability to defeat his opponents at the ballot, telling supporters that he would "beat them early" in the political contest.

His remarks come as Kenya's political landscape continues to shift, with the emerging UDA-ODM cooperation taking shape while opposition leaders intensify efforts to build a united political front ahead of the polls.

The renewed criticism of Uhuru adds another dimension to the longstanding political rivalry between the two leaders. Their relationship deteriorated significantly in the period leading up to the 2022 General Election after initially working closely together during Ruto's tenure as Deputy President.

The allegations also come at a time when political alliances are rapidly taking shape, with rival camps seeking to consolidate support across key regions as the country enters the final year before the scheduled 2027 General Election.
