The Linda Mwananchi movement on Friday took its grassroots mobilisation campaign to Butula, Busia County, where opposition leaders led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna met residents as part of efforts to strengthen support ahead of the 2027 General Election. The tour is part of the movement's wider strategy to expand its presence across Western Kenya.

The Butula gathering, brought together supporters, youth groups, boda boda operators, traders and local leaders  for discussions on governance, the cost of living, accountability and community concerns. Organisers said the delegation was also scheduled to hold a second public engagement in Nambale Town later in the day.

Speaking during the rally, movement leaders urged residents to remain actively involved in shaping the country's political future, saying sustained grassroots engagement would be key to influencing the outcome of the 2027 polls. The Busia visit follows a series of rallies held in other parts of Western Kenya as the movement seeks to consolidate support in the region.

The rally comes at a time of heightened political activity across the country, with both the ruling coalition and opposition stepping up county tours and public engagements. Western Kenya is expected to remain a key focus for both the ruling coalition and the opposition as political mobilisation intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.
