The semi-final line-up for the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 has been confirmed, with India, Kenya and Sri Lanka emerging as the standout nations after strong group-stage campaigns in Ahmedabad.
The three countries have qualified for the semi-finals in both the men’s and women’s competitions, underlining their strength across the two sections of the championship.
Bangladesh have secured the remaining men’s semi-final place, while Uganda have taken the final spot in the women’s competition. The knockout matches are scheduled for Friday, October 30, at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad.
Kenya’s men have been among the tournament’s strongest performers, finishing the group stage unbeaten and topping Group B.
They opened their campaign with a 48-28 victory over Singapore before edging Bangladesh 32-31 in a closely contested encounter. Kenya then produced convincing wins over Scotland and Canada, beating them 61-16 and 49-20 respectively.
The results secured Kenya top spot in Group B and sent the team into the semi-finals with an unbeaten record and considerable momentum.
Kenya’s women have also maintained a perfect record, winning all four of their Group B matches against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England and Scotland.
Their most emphatic victory came against England, whom they defeated 82-6. They also recorded a 61-16 win over Scotland as they established themselves as one of the leading women's sides in the competition.
Kenya will face Uganda in the women's semi-final, while India will meet Sri Lanka. The fixtures will provide another major test for Kenya's women after their dominant group-stage performances.
In the men’s competition, India and Sri Lanka also completed unbeaten group-stage campaigns. Sri Lanka topped Group A on score difference after recording five victories against Tanzania, Malaysia, Uganda, England and Nigeria.
India also won all five of its Group A matches, defeating England, Uganda, Malaysia, Nigeria and Tanzania to secure its place in the last four.
Bangladesh claimed the remaining men's semi-final berth after a strong campaign in Group B. The team recorded victories over Canada, Scotland, Singapore and England but narrowly lost 32-31 to Kenya.
The championship has brought together teams from across the Commonwealth for its first edition, with 13 nations competing in the men's tournament and 10 in the women's competition.
The event began on October 23, with the semi-finals scheduled for October 30 and the championship finals set for October 31.
Kenya now enters the knockout stage with strong credentials in both competitions. The men's side will look to build on an unbeaten group campaign, while the women's team will aim to maintain its perfect record as the country targets Commonwealth honours.
With both Kenyan teams still in contention, the semi-finals offer the country's kabaddi teams an opportunity to make history at the inaugural championship.
